Whether you’ve practiced yoga and meditation for years or never a day in your life, meditation is your ticket to living in the moment. We invite you to tune in.
Meditation, or “mindfulness” is a very broad category of activities meant to calm the nervous system, stop mental chatter (also known as the “monkey mind”), and bring you closer to a quiet and focused self. We’ll learn about a wide variety of meditation, including: journaling, breath work, visualization, and gaze.
How exactly does meditation benefit your body? It is proven to lower anxiety, relieve stress, enhance your focus, and facilitate mental health, as it leads to higher self-acceptance and understanding.In this workshop you will learn about different forms of meditation, practice several types of guided meditation, and leave with an action plan for how to incorporate meditation in to your everyday lives.
GOALS: 1. For you to understand the basic techniques of meditation, 2. for you to perform a guided meditation practice, and 3. to introduce you to techniques that you can use in your everyday life and yoga practice.
Note: Sunday Soul includes basic movement to prepare your body to sit and to recover from sitting. However, no yoga mat is required. This workshop is accessible for both beginners and those who have experienced the benefits of meditation. Please bring a journal and a pen, we’ll provide comfortable seating.
